Here we are again with fall on our doorstep and the memories of summer behind us.  Another year of adventures in learning here we come!! This year Onanole School has transitioned from 8 periods in the 6 Day cycle to 10.  Dismissal times were affected but everyone seems to be adjusting well to these new changes for pick up and bus drop offs.

Our Therapy Dog PIPPA is back again for another year with us bringing her calm and loving demeanor into the classrooms and wherever she goes throughout the school. Some fun facts about her are:  She is 11 years old, when she is working you will see her with her leash on and a special bandanna.  Pippa’s favorite toy is a fluffy squeaky duck and likes to chase after light reflections.  Everyone put their paws together in welcoming her back.

Our Annual Events this month were, the Terry Fox Run and Potluck.

The Terry Fox run was on Monday, September 22nd and we were fortunate to have a beautiful day!  Every year an officer from the RCMP detachment escorts our students to make sure we have a safe route.  We greatly appreciate it and this year we would like to thank Sergeant Lidster for coming.  We are thrilled to announce that our school raised $1,887.00 for Cancer research.  That was $700 more than last year!  Thank you to everyone who donated.

In addition to the nice weather week we were having, staff and families gathered for another delicious Potluck to welcome the new school year.  So many delicious dishes were prepared and shared.  It was so nice to visit, connect with everyone, including meeting and welcoming our new families.  Students had the opportunity to head outside to enjoy the evening on the playground.

Mr. Stephenson along with his Grade 5/6 class had the opportunity to travel to the Riverbank Discovery Centre for Truth and Reconciliation presentations.  Please see October’s news for the details.

Did You Know- Our flag was flown at half-mast to honor two very important dates in September.   Sunday September 28th -Police and Peace Officers' National Memorial Day and                                                     Tuesday, September 30th - National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
